Learning for Life launches the Explorer Club Program

Is your business/organization looking to help local youth, cultivate future employees, and impact the community in a positive way? Exploring is a great way to address these goals and more.

Bay-Lakes Council Exploring is looking for new partnerships while maintaining our current relationships. Our vision is to create Information Technology, Business, and Skilled Trades programming in the area.

Oshkosh School District endorses Exploring and is partnering with us to help reach as many youth as possible.

EXPLORING is Learning for Life’s career education program for young men and women who are at least 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) or 15 years of age but not yet 21 years old. In 2013, Learning for Life launched the Explorer Club program for sixth- through eighth-graders in response to the U.S. Department of Education’s recent emphasis on career education at the elementary grade levels.

Exploring is based on a unique relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Local community organizations initiate an Explorer post by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of character-building experiences and mentorship that allow youth to achieve their full potential in both life and work.

Explorer Posts/Clubs can specialize in a variety of career skills, and are based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience.

THE BAY-LAKES COUNCIL is one of the largest Boy-Scout Councils in the Midwest, covering 35 counties throughout Northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Programs provided by the Bay-Lakes Council include: Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, and of course, Exploring. The Council served over 1,200 youth through 56 Exploring programs in 2017.

If your business/organization is not related to the fields mentioned above and you are interested in Exploring we will be more than happy to discuss how we can make Exploring work for you.
