High School Sophomore Grace Vanden Heuvel Joins NEW IT Alliance as an Intern

Grace Vanden Heuvel- NEW IT Alliance Intern

NEW IT Alliance would like to welcome Grace Vanden Heuvel aboard as an intern. Grace is an incoming sophomore at Hortonville High School. In her internship she will be building on the skills she learned in her computer science class, helping support the back end of our websites, helping to update content, learning about social media, and helping build a high school ambassador program for the region.

Grace has recently completed the TEALS AP Computer Science A class, and is interested in pursuing a career in IT. Toward this end, she will be attending the Focus on Software Engineering and Computer Science Camp at MSOE, and has recently joined the NEW IT Alliance as an intern.

Grace is involved with Girls Who Code, and volunteers for a coding club at a local middle school. She has also volunteered at a DigiGirlz event in Hortonville and sits on the Hortonville Computer Science Advisory board, providing feedback and direction to school faculty and local business. Grace is also on the Hortonville High School FIRST Robotics team as a programmer.

She is a recipient of the Wisconsin NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing.  The award, sponsored by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and Hortonville High School, recognizes high school women for their computing-related achievements and interests as part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose careers in technology.
