Dear Potential Sponsor of Riverview Robotics,

I am writing to you on behalf of Riverview Lutheran Robotics Team 10851B from Appleton, Wisconsin. On Sunday, March 4, 2018, this team–made of four 5th grade students–won the VEX IQ Robotics tournament held at Milwaukee School of Engineering. This qualified them for competition at the VEX IQ World Championships on April 29-May 1, 2018, in Louisville, Kentucky. We are seeking sponsorship to help make this trip happen.

Riverview Lutheran has been involved in VEX Robotics for the past 5 years. Students who participate in robotics practice engineering and programming skills as they design a robot to complete the tasks in the competition. They develop important skills that are in high demand in this age of technology. Students develop independence, communication, and cooperation by participating in VEX Robotics. They are encouraged to work on their robots and troubleshoot problems on their own, talk and strategize with their teammates as well as other teams in their alliance in order to complete the task in the given time.

The VEX IQ World Championship brings together teams of students and their robots from across the country and around the world. Teams will meet people and make connections with like-minded robotics enthusiasts during this 3-day competition. It is a great achievement for a team to qualify for Worlds, and the students who have made it this far can be very proud.

The VEX IQ Robotics program at Riverview Lutheran School is a non-budgeted activity. It relies on student fees and donations to cover the cost of materials, robots, tournament entry fees, hardware, software, and tools. We are asking you to kindly consider helping to sponsor our team for this VEX IQ World Championship Tournament. The entry fee for the tournament is $975. There will be five families traveling to Louisville for this competition (which happens to fall in the same week as the Kentucky Derby which makes lodging more difficult to find and more expensive), so the cost of travel and lodging is also a consideration.

In return for your sponsorship of any amount, we will list your company or family name on our team’s banner which will hang on our Riverview Robotics team wall at the VEX IQ World Championship Tournament, as well as on our school wall in Appleton.

Please consider making a contribution to our robotics team in any amount. If more money is collected than is needed for this event, it will be put in the robotics fund for future events. If you are interested in making a donation, please make checks payable to Riverview Lutheran and put “VEX IQ Worlds 2018” in the memo. Please send your tax-deductible donation to Riverview Lutheran, attention BJ Witte, 136 W. Seymour St., Appleton, WI 54915.

Thank you for your consideration! If you have any questions, please contact BJ Witte. (920.750.4139. bwitte@riverviewlutheran.org)

Sincerely,

Mr. BJ Witte
