J. J. Keller and Microsoft Partner with Boys & Girls Brigade to Inspire Youth on Technology Careers

In March, J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. hosted over 100 8th grade students, who are part of the Boys & Girls Brigade on-site at their Technology Solutions Office in Appleton. The purpose was to introduce students to careers in technology as well as to inspire future interest in technology by providing hands-on opportunities to test out and play with various forms of technology.  The boys had an opportunity to do a hands-on coding exercises as well as to test out VR technology.

The girls event provided a great partnership with Microsoft’s DigiGirlz program, a Microsoft YouthSpark program that gives middle and high school girls opportunities to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees, and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops. Through DigiGirlz, the girls had an opportunity to work with Adafruit kits and see their programming come to life by lighting up circuit boards, creating custom commands for various sounds and activating various sensors.

Both J. J. Keller and Microsoft found this to be a valuable partnership with the Boys & Girls Brigade to advance the #Makewhatsnext initiative and introduce youth to careers in technology!
