New Demand For Workers to Fight Cyber Crime

GREEN BAY, Wis. —The NEW IT Alliance was featured on a news report given by WBAY TV. “On a given day, it’s like 6 million attacks an hour,” reported WBAY TV. Careers in Cyber Security are growing due to the increased risk of cyber crimes. Every company, no matter what size, is at risk. We are looking to the next generation of IT talent to protect our personal information.

August Neverman commented, “They’re attacking in more and more unique ways. They’re not attacking maybe the way we think they’re attacking. We think they’re attacking a business. Or that they’re attacking a bank. They are attacking people. They want your email account, any user ID and password, because unfortunately, a lot of us use the same password everywhere.”

As attacks continue to grow, more people are needed to help defend and prevent these attacks. In the next five years, there will be a shortage of about 1.8 million information security workers. Our own studies report that there is 13% job growth in the information technology industry in Northeast Wisconsin.
